1. Who operates So Smooth ABC
So Smooth ABC is a browser-based early-learning website for children and families. The service contact is contact@sosmoothabc.com. Before this policy is published to children and families, the responsible business/operator legal name and a mailing address must be added here.
Operator legal name and mailing address: [COMPLETE BEFORE PUBLICATION — required details for children's privacy notices may apply].
2. Who should use contact and account features
Our contact form and any account-registration or administrative features are intended for parents or guardians, not children. We ask children to seek an adult's help before submitting information. We do not ask children to supply their personal email address through the learning games.
3. Information handled
Local child profiles: When an adult creates a profile, the game saves the child’s chosen name or nickname, avatar, mastered letters (26), mastered numbers (1–20), completed spelling words (30), certificate completion information, most recently visited activity, and audio preferences in the browser’s local storage. This information is not currently synchronized to Cloudflare or another online account. An adult may export a JSON backup containing the profiles and their information.
Contact: Adults may email contact@sosmoothabc.com. If they do, their email provider and ours process their email address, message, and related delivery details. The website’s direct contact-form delivery is still being configured and is not active in the current version.
Future cloud service: Planned parent sign-in, online child profiles, and cross-device progress synchronization would require additional data practices and a revised policy, with appropriate parental notices, consent and verification, before launch.
Technical records: When this website is hosted, the hosting provider may process IP addresses and security or access logs. Exact providers and retention must be confirmed before public release.
4. How information is used
- Answer adult inquiries and support requests.
- Operate and improve lessons, accessibility, and technical reliability.
- Remember progress within the browser where the game provides that feature.
- Detect abuse, protect accounts and forms, and fulfill legal obligations.
We use locally stored game data to remember each learner’s progress and sound preferences on the same browser. If an adult contacts us by email, we use the message to respond and provide support. Hosting providers may process technical information needed to deliver and protect the website. We do not use the game to display behaviorally targeted advertising to children.
5. Providers and disclosures
Current: The website is intended to run on HostGator; its hosting and email providers may process the technical data needed to provide those services. Planned: Cloudflare Workers and D1 may eventually support parent-controlled accounts and cloud saving, and a verified email-delivery provider may support the contact form. Those integrations are not currently present in this website package. This page must be updated when any provider or data flow goes live.
6. Children's privacy and parental choice
So Smooth ABC is intended for young children, including children under 13. A parent or guardian should create and manage learning profiles and contact us on the child’s behalf. We are designing future online parent accounts with children’s privacy in mind; before collecting children’s personal information through cloud accounts, we will review applicable requirements including COPPA notice and verifiable parental consent. Email sign-in alone is not a substitute for that consent.
Parents can contact us to ask what information is held, request review or deletion, or ask us to stop collecting information associated with their child, as applicable. We will verify authorization before releasing or deleting account-related information.
7. Local storage and cookies
The game stores profiles and progress on the device using the browser localStorage key soSmoothABC_v3. Clearing site data, using private browsing, or changing devices may erase or make the records unavailable. A backup downloaded by a parent is stored wherever they save it and is not automatically deleted when the game’s local data is erased. No cross-device cloud synchronization is currently active.
8. Retention and security
Locally saved profiles remain on the browser until they are reset or deleted, or until browser storage is cleared. We do not currently maintain a central game-progress database. Emails sent to the support address may be retained in the mailbox for support and records. Before public launch, we will document the operator identity, hosting arrangements, mailbox retention practice, and handling of technical logs.
9. Your choices
In Parent Settings, an adult can reset one learner’s ABC, 123 and WORDS mastery; delete one learner’s local profile; delete all local profiles and progress; or download a local backup. These controls affect this browser only. Reimporting a previously downloaded backup can restore deleted records. To ask about a support email or a future cloud account, contact contact@sosmoothabc.com.
10. Updates and contact
We will update this policy as the site, storage, account features or legal requirements change. Material changes will receive appropriate notice and any required consent. Contact contact@sosmoothabc.com or send a message.
